I loved this class, I am a complete beginner in surface pattern design, in fact the project I've made for this class was my first pattern ever. I am not proficient in photoshop either. There are a lot of great tips for anybody wanting to get into surface pattern, or is already doing pattern design. I like all of Sandra's tips for making patterns and to sending files to clients. I love that she shared her whole process from beginning to end. I usually like shorter classes, but didn't mind the length of this class because it had soooo much great content it was so worth it, other classes with all this info will take about 4 hours, this is packed with goodness in an 1 hour 34 minutes. I recommend this class for beginners and more advance as well.

Hi. I'm Sandra and I'm a full-time freelance Illustrator and Pattern Designer.
My artwork has been licensed for greeting cards, educational publishing, fabrics, stationary, home decor, and much more.
Since I discovered Procreate, I have never looked back and now create most of my illustrations on it. I believe in transparency and collaboration and I love sharing my process and secrets with you.
How does the class work?
This class is delivered 100% online, so you can watch it at any time, from your laptop, phone or tablet. I suggest watching from your laptop so you can see the tools I’m using. Once you enroll, you get instant access to all the lessons.
What do I need to take this class?
You need a computer with Adobe Photoshop software (only the versions after 2021 have the pattern making tool available but you can also create your patterns manually if you have a previous version).
Will you review my projects?
No, this class is self-paced and doesn’t include project reviews, but you can email me directly if you have any questions related to the class and if you post your projects on Instagram and tag me @artbysandramejia, I’m constantly looking at these and might comment on yours!
Will you teach me how to make the artwork or teach me any painting techniques?
No. This course focuses on the pattern making process, creating different colorways and preparing your art to show to clients. I include my cute cactus icons for you to download for free in case you don’t have any artwork ready to use for patterns so you can dive right in and start practising right away.
Will this course teach me how to erase the paper background from my hand-painted elements?
No. That would be a whole class on its own! I do explain my process briefly, but we focus on the process of making the pattern.
I’m a beginner, would this course work for me?
Yes! Although some basic knowledge of Photoshop would be preferred, I explain all the steps needed to complete the class, and if you get stuck, you can ask questions in the comments area.
I’m a pro at making patterns, will I learn something new?
If you already know how to use the pattern making tool, how to replace the missing icons from your tile when you turn off the pattern tool, how to create multiple colorways of your patterns in Photoshop, how to use actions to make your life easier and your process faster, how to find clients for your work and how to present your images, then: no. Absolutely! The skills and techniques you’ll learn can be used to create stunning illustrations for personal or professional projects. You can also use the brushes to create artwork for commercial use. The resources provided for the class and my illustrations are not made available for commercial use, so please use them just for your learning purposes.

How long will I have access to the course?
You have unlimited access to the course. I’d say forever, but I might not be wanting to maintain this class once I’m 80, so you’ll have access as long as Sandra Mejia’s online school exists.
Do you have a refund policy?
I’m sure you’ll love this class, as I have 100% satisfaction rating in my reviews, but if by any chance you’re unsatisfied with the class, I offer a 30-day refund policy from the date of purchase.
How do I request a refund?
If you’d like to request a refund for a course you have purchased:
1. Go to the email with your purchase receipt and reply to it or go to the actual receipt and in the bottom, where it says: “Questions about your product? Contact Art by Sandra Mejia”, you’ll find my support email.
2. Please allow 2-3 business days to get a response. Your refund might take 5-10 business days to be issued depending on your payment provider.
